Marshall Breaks Season Record on Day 1 of Pumpkin Bash

Westminster's sophomore Hannah Marshall broke the season kills record during the first day of Augustana's Pumpkin Bash. Marshall recorded 16 kills in the two losses, breaking the 2002 record of 358 kills. 

The Westminster Blue Jays fell 3-1 to Dubuque to start the two-day tournament. They went on to fall to Coe College, 3-0, moving the Blue Jays to 20-9 on the season.

Dubuque won the first set, 25-20, but the Blue Jays won the second to tie up the match, 25-21. Dubuque won the third, 25-17. The Blue Jays battled with Dubuque, but were defeated in the fourth set, 26-24, to end the match. 

Marshall led the attack with 10 kills while junior Amanda Kiso recorded nine. Junior setter Kayla Reeg tallied 37 assists with two service aces. Marshall also recorded two aces. 

Freshman libero Bridget Ringwald led the team with 19 digs, followed by freshman Micha Frasher with 15. Senior Lexi Collier recorded seven blocks in the four sets. Three other Blue Jays recorded three block assists each. 

The Blue Jays went on to face Coe for their second match of the tournament. Coe swept the Blue Jays 26-24, 25-19, 25-23. 

Collier recorded 13 kills while hitting .619 on the match. Reeg posted 31 assists, and Ringwald finished with 18 digs. 

The Blue Jays face two CCIW teams in day two of the Pumpkin Bash. They play North Park at 10:00 am on Saturday, followed by a match versus Augustana at noon.
