Season Records Fall at Pumpkin Bash, Collier Joins 1,000 Kill Club

The Westminster season assist and service ace records fell on day two of the Pumpkin Bash on October 31, and senior Lexi Collier joined the 1,000 Kill Club. The Westminster Blue Jays lost both matches, ending their trip with a 20-11 overall record. The team took North Park into five sets, but dropped the fifth.They were then beaten by Augustana, 3-1.

Junior Kayla Reeg, the career assist holder, broke the season assists record in the second match of the day. She now holds 1,134 assists. Sophomore Hannah Marshall broke the service aces record in the first match of the day. She currently sits with 72 service aces and is just 12 away from breaking the career record. Marshall also broke the season kills record on day one of the tournament. 

Collier joined the 1,000 Kill Club in the second match of the day, finishing with 1,001 career kills. She was named to the All-Tournament Team. 

The North Park scores were 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 14-16.

Junior Amanda Kiso hit .533 on the match with 17 kills and just one error on 30 attempts. Marshall and Collier each recorded 14 kills, and Reeg tallied 55 assists in the match.

Three Blue Jays totalled 55 digs on the match. Freshman libero Bridget Ringwald led with 22 digs. Freshman Micha Frasher recorded 17 and Reeg added 16.

Collier recorded four block assists.

The Blue Jays went on to play Augustana in their fourth and final match of the Pumpkin Bash and lost 21-25, 26-24, 16-25, 18-25.

Junior Gabby LaRose and Collier each recorded 12 kills, and Collier hit .600 on the match. Reeg recorded 36 assists to lift her over the season record mark.

Ringwald finished with 20 digs. Kiso had a block solo and two block assists while Collier and sophomore Natalie Corrigan each had three block assists.

The Blue Jays conclude their regular season with their final conference match versus MacMurray on Tuesday, November 3. The two seniors, Lexi Collier and Caroline Will, will be honored prior to the first serve at 7:00 pm.
