5/7/2026 Louisville, KY–Following a blowout upset win over MUW, Westminster looked for more of the same against the two-seed Spalding. Spalding finished the regular season with a 12-4 record in conference. The two teams' previous matchup resulted in a Spalding sweep over the Blue Jays.
Westminster scored ten runs against MUW to advance to this semifinal matchup. This game started in a similar fashion. The first three batters reached base before Taylor Engelmeyer singled in two runs, giving the Jays an early lead. On the other side of the ball, Madison Plybon got the start. Plybon looked to emulate her performance from her last start, giving up only two runs. Plybon did just that. The righty gave up one lone run in the third inning and was lights out the rest of the way. Her efforts were much needed as the Blue Jays' early offense came to a halt, going scoreless the rest of the game. In the bottom of the seventh with a SLIAC championship berth on the line, Plybon stepped to the circle with the game-tying run at third base and the winning run on first. Plybon put any hopes of a comeback to sleep, getting the batter to ground out and advancing the Blue Jays to the SLIAC championship.
The Jays' 2-1 win over Spalding now brings them the winners bracket game against Greenville. Greenville has dominated the SLIAC all season and swept the Jays in their previous matchup. However, that has been the case with the Jays' last two matchups, and the Blue Jays steadily advanced right past them. The game will take place on May 8 in Louisville, Kentucky, once again.
