4/3/2026 Louisville, KY–The Westminster Blue Jays entered the weekend against conference rival Spalding on the back of a seven-game losing streak. This matchup would not prove to be easy for the Jays to snap the streak. Spalding entered the series 9-2 in conference play, placing them third in the SLIAC.
Game 1: L, 10-11
The first game of the series was as entertaining as it gets. Jack Page started the game for the Jays and was dominant. After giving up two runs in the first, Page shut down the Spalding offense, pitching into the ninth. Westminster faced a similar story; they scored one in the first and another in the seventh, bringing the game even. However, once the ninth inning rolled around, there was no shortage of offense. The Blue Jays scored six in the top half of the inning, putting them in prime position to steal the first game of the series. In the bottom half of the inning, Page's dominance came to an end; a triple and two walks ran him from the game. He finished the game throwing 123 pitches.
Maddox Christenberry came in to replace Page and immediately walked in a run and gave up two hits, scoring five. The next batter would tie the game on an RBI groundout, sending the game to extras. In extras, the Jays scored two, off RBI singles from
Aden Pecka and Domenic Nordman. The Blue Jays once again would fail to silence Spalding's offense in the late innings.
Max Blackburn faced only two batters, giving up two singles, before
Dawson Willard relieved him. Willard was not able to change the trend. He gave up three hits, scoring the three runs Spalding needed to walk things off. The Jays were unable to snap their streak, losing this one by a final of 10-11.
Game :. L, 8-12
The second game of the series paralleled the first in many ways. The game was tight and low scoring for the first five innings. Spalding scored three runs in that span from a fielder's choice and a two-run error; Westminster scored only one run. This trend changed in the sixth inning. Westminster scored an unearned run in the top of the inning, and Spalding answered it with a two-run homer in the bottom half. The seventh proved more of the same; the Jays took advantage of a two-out error and scored three runs as a result, the last coming from a Brett Montgomery single. Spalding answered with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead. In the eighth, the Blue Jays recorded two hits but couldn't score, and Spalding made them pay as they would score six runs in the bottom of the inning. Westminster rallied to score three in the top of the ninth, but their efforts were not enough, and they dropped this one 8-12.
