Columbia, MO– Westminster entered this game off the back of a three-game sweep of Blackburn. The Blue Jays played as good of baseball as they have all year and looked to continue that play against Columbia College in an end of season out of conference matchup. Columbia College entered this game with a record of 28-11-1.
Game 1: L, 13-15
Recap:
The strong CC offense wasted no time to put pressure on starter Colyn Wright. After two innings they had scored four runs, three of which coming from a pair of homers. The Jays fought back, however, scoring five runs in the third capped off by a homer of their own coming from Joshua Ramos to give them the lead. This lead would not last an inning, as Columbia College scored eight runs over the next two frames to put them well in front. Both teams traded three run innings in the fifth and sixth respectively, Westminster's runs coming from a Cam Schlegl three run blast. A five run seventh inning from the Jays pulled the deficit to only two, but that was as close as they got, getting shut out the remainder of the game, losing this high scoring match up 13-15.
The Jays will continue conference play with a series against Principia starting Friday April 24. Principia enters this set 1-17 in conference play.
