Blue Jays’ Run Into a Buzzsaw, Get Swept by Greenville

Sam Justice

4/20/2026 Fulton, MO –The Westminster Softball Team entered this series against Greenville playing very competitive softball recently. The Jays have a record of 7-2 in their previous nine games entering this weekend. However, Greenville has not only been playing competitively but has also dominated. Entering this series, Greenville was 9-1 in conference play and 22-8 overall. Both teams battled it out in Fulton over the weekend.

Game 1: L, 3-13

Madison Plybon was handed the ball in game one. The righty who has dominated all season was handed her shortest outing of the season. In just one plus inning of work, Greenville put up six runs, four of which were earned against Plybon, chasing her from the game. Greenville's offense didn't stop there, though. They scored seven more runs the rest of the game, producing damage, no matter who the Jays put on the mound. On the back of three homers and 13 hits given up, the Jays lost this one, 3-13.

Game 2: L, 2-15

In the second game of the two-game set, now looking to avoid the sweep, the Jays gave the ball to Peityn Thomas. Once again, though, Greenville's offense dominated. They started the game scoring two in the first inning, and did not look back. Over the next six innings, the Panthers scored 13 additional runs, highlighted by a seven-run seventh inning that truly put the game out of reach. The Jays' offense was not much help, putting up two runs, both coming in the fifth inning.

While the Blue Jays had been playing great softball coming into this series, they ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Greenville Panthers' softball team. The Jays will look to get back on track on Tuesday, April 22, on the road against Principia for two.
