April 18th, 2026/Canton, MO - The Westminster men's track & field team competed at the Wildcat Open hosted by Culver-Stockton College on Saturday, April 18th, in their last meet before the SLIAC Championship. The Blue Jays got standout performances in the field from a pair of freshmen:
Levi Casey in the pole vault and
Chase Arnold in the triple jump.
Casey started off the Jays' day by winning the pole vault, clearing 4.35 meters and besting his own modern program record that he had set two weeks prior. Junior
Henry Warfel cleared 2.85 meters, finishing eighth. On the runway, Arnold set a new personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 12.91 meters, good for 11th overall and moving him up to sixth on the current SLIAC leaderboard. Arnold also tied his personal best mark in the long jump (6.01), finishing 14th, one spot behind teammate
Weston Jennings (6.06).
Elsewhere in the field, freshman Nik Thieman turned in a runner-up performance in the javelin throw with a mark of 43.86 meters. Freshmen
Levi Brandt and
Lee Ivy III (making his debut in the event) also finished in the top eight. Thieman tied his collegiate-best mark of 1.81 meters in the high jump, finishing seventh, while Brandt also set new personal best marks in the 100- and 400-meter dashes on the track.
The Blue Jays travel to Greenville University for the 2026 SLIAC Championship on Friday, April 24th.
