Feb. 28th, 2026 Elsah, IL - The Westminster men's track & field team competed at the 2026 SLIAC Indoor Championship on Friday and Saturday, February 27th-28th, at Principia College. Six women competed in the weight throw on Friday, led by sophomore Ilana Heffer, who broke her own program record for the third consecutive meet. Her 9.87 performance placed her 12th overall.
On Saturday, freshman
Ellie Schisler and junior
Sadie Brandt each posted the highest finishes by a Blue Jay in the women's competition. Schisler placed fourth in the high jump, narrowly missing a spot on the podium due to misses. Brandt ran a personal best of 2:37 to grab fourth place in the 800, and moving up to the #3 spot on the program leaderboard.
Back in the ring, junior
Emma Braby led five Blue Jays in the shot put, throwing 9.85 on her fifth attempt in the finals to capture seventh place. On the track, sophomores
Makayla Cordes (eight in both the mile and 800) and
Riley Vogel (seventh in the 3000) contributed points in the distance events. Schisler, Cordes, Brandt, and sophomore
Amber Dierling rounded out the events with a sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Overall, the Blue Jays scored 19 points, placing seventh out of nine teams.
The Blue Jays kick off their 2026 outdoor track & field season on Saturday, March 14th, at the Ouachita Invitational in Arkadelphia, AR.
