2/28/2026 Fulton, MO – The Westminster women's basketball team saw its season end Friday evening with a 58-51 loss to Principia in the SLIAC Tournament semifinals. The Blue Jays finish the year 11-15 overall and 10-6 in conference play.
Westminster came out strong in the opening quarter, keeping pace in a tight 17-16 game after one. The Blue Jays held Principia to just five points in the second quarter to take a 26-22 lead into halftime. However, a 20-point third quarter by Principia shifted momentum, and despite a late push in the fourth, Westminster was unable to close the gap.
Mariah Mayfield led the Blue Jays with 17 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Aly Bullock added 15 points and dominated the glass with 14 rebounds to record a double-double, while also contributing three steals and a block. Evalena Claxton provided six points and four rebounds off the bench, and Deyja Mayes added five points. Westminster controlled the boards with 46 total rebounds and recorded 10 steals defensively.
The semifinal appearance capped a strong conference season for the Blue Jays, who earned the No. 3 seed in the SLIAC Tournament and hosted a quarterfinal victory before advancing to the final four.
