Eureka, IL 2/14/2026 - The Westminster College men's wrestling team turned in a strong performance at the 2026 SLIAC Wrestling Championships, totaling 54.0 team points and producing three medalists while earning multiple podium finishes across the lineup.
Michael Roberts delivered a dominant run at 165 pounds, capturing his second career SLIAC championship and scoring 21 team points. Roberts won all four of his matches by fall, including pins in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship bout, to secure the conference title in impressive fashion.
At 133 pounds,
Isaac Gawronski earned a third-place finish, contributing 11 team points. Gawronski opened the tournament with a technical fall victory before rebounding from a semifinal loss with two straight falls in the consolation bracket, including a pin in the third-place match.
Levi Casey also stood on the podium, finishing third at 174 pounds and adding 10 team points. Casey reached the semifinals before responding with a technical fall in the consolation semifinals and an injury default win in the third-place match.
Westminster added valuable depth scoring at 141 pounds, where
Henry Warfel placed fourth with five team points, and
Drake Schmidt finished fifth, contributing two points after closing the tournament with a forfeit win in the fifth-place match.
Adam Peregoy turned in a gritty effort at 157 pounds, placing sixth and scoring five team points after winning two matches in the consolation rounds. Darvin Fowler rounded out the placers with a seventh-place finish at 285 pounds, scoring two team points, while
Thomas Tempest (197) and Geoffrey Hudson (184) gained valuable championship experience heading into regionals.
