1/15/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's basketball team used a dominant first quarter and balanced scoring to secure a 68–55 victory over Greenville on Wednesday night, improving to 5–1 in SLIAC play and 5–9 overall.
Westminster set the tone early, jumping out to a 19–7 lead in the opening quarter behind aggressive defense and efficient offense. The Blue Jays continued to build momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Greenville 17–16 to take a 36–23 advantage into halftime. Greenville made a push in the third quarter, cutting into the lead by winning the frame 19–10, but Westminster responded with composure. The Blue Jays closed the game strong in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Panthers 22–13 to seal the 13-point victory.
Gizelle Carreto and Mariah Mayfield led the way for Westminster with 12 points apiece. Carreto added four steals and was strong at the free-throw line, while Mayfield knocked down three three-pointers to spark the offense. Aly Bullock chipped in 10 points and pulled down six rebounds, and Deyja Mayes added nine points in a solid all-around performance. Jamie Peffer provided an efficient scoring boost off the bench with eight points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting, while Reagan Chigas contributed seven points and a team-high seven rebounds. Evalena Claxton added six points, two assists, and two blocks, helping anchor the defense in the paint.
Aly Bullock made history in the win over Greenville, becoming Westminster women's basketball's all-time leader in career blocks. With her performance, she surpassed the previous record and now sits at 111 career blocks and counting, cementing her place as one of the top defensive players in program history.
Westminster will look to keep its conference momentum going as it travels to Blackburn for its next matchup on Saturday, January 17, with tipoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
