1/11/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster men's basketball team battled throughout the night but came up short in a 68–61 loss to Spalding. The Blue Jays kept the game within reach in both halves, but a few key possessions late allowed Spalding to secure the conference victory.
Spalding held a 37–31 lead at halftime, and Westminster responded early in the second half with strong defensive pressure and improved ball movement to cut into the deficit. The Blue Jays were able to stay competitive down the stretch, but Spalding's timely shooting and rebounding proved to be the difference.
Jamile Johnson led all scorers for Westminster with an efficient 19 points, shooting 9-for-10 from the field while also pulling down nine rebounds and adding four blocks. Kolton Garner followed with 14 points, while Walker Gohring added 12 points and seven rebounds. Aidan Temple contributed seven points and eight rebounds, providing a strong presence on the glass, and Kobe Jones chipped in six points with a team-high six assists.
Despite the shooting challenges, the Blue Jays' defensive effort and interior play kept the game competitive throughout. The men will look to bounce back quickly as they return home to face Greenville on Wednesday, January 14, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
