Blue Jays Drop 122–118 Shootout to Greenville in Offensive Thriller

1/15/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster men's basketball team battled in a high-scoring, back-and-forth contest against Greenville but ultimately came up just short in a 122–118 loss. Both teams put on an offensive showcase, combining for 240 points in one of the most exciting games of the season.

Westminster kept pace from the opening tip, trailing by only three points at halftime, 61–58. The Blue Jays continued to answer Greenville's runs in the second half, matching their intensity and scoring 60 points after the break. Despite several late pushes, Greenville held on in the final moments to secure the narrow victory.

Jamile Johnson delivered a historic performance for Westminster, pouring in 40 points on an efficient 16-of-19 shooting from the field while going a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. He also added 11 rebounds and three blocks, posting a dominant double-double performance on both ends of the floor.

Walker Gohring was outstanding as well, finishing with 26 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists while shooting 9-of-14 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. His all-around effort helped keep the Blue Jays within striking distance throughout the game.

Westminster's bench provided a strong spark, led by Sean LaRose with 16 points and seven assists, Roman Phillips with 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting, and Gavin Hendrix with eight points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Blue Jays shot an impressive 58.4% from the field (45-for-77) and out-rebounded Greenville 56–42, showcasing their physicality and offensive efficiency.

Although the result did not go their way, Westminster showed resilience, depth, and offensive firepower in a game that came down to the final possessions.
