9/62025 Fulton, MO – The Westminster women's soccer team battled hard on the road Saturday afternoon but came up short in a 2-1 loss to Millikin University.
After a scoreless first half, the Big Blue broke through in the 53rd minute on a goal. Millikin added another in the 82nd minute to extend its lead to 2-0.
Westminster kept pressing and was rewarded in the final minute, as Emma Fontenot scored the first goal for the Blue Jays at the 89:29 mark to cut the deficit in half. The Blue Jays nearly converted again in the closing moments but couldn't find the equalizer. Westminster tallied nine shots (five on goal) and generated seven corner kicks in a strong second-half push. Goalkeeper Reagan Chigas anchored the defense with 9 saves against a steady Millikin attack that produced 11 total shots.
With the result, Westminster moves to 1-2 on the year. The Blue Jays return home on Wednesday, September 10, at 6 p.m. to face Stephens College at the Kent & Judith Mueller Stadium.
