9/2/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's soccer team secured its first victory of the 2025 season Tuesday night, defeating William Woods 1-0 in the Blue Jays' home opener.
After a scoreless first half, Westminster broke through in the 57th minute when Bella Carter found the back of the net, finishing off an assist from Faith Coates. The Blue Jays generated nine total shots with six on target, led by Fiona Shelp's three attempts and steady attacking play from Emma Fontenot and Molly Angell. On the defensive end, Westminster relied on a strong performance from goalkeeper Reagan Chigas, who recorded eight saves to preserve the win. The Blue Jays limited quality chances for the Owls despite 14 shots from the visitors.
With the win, Westminster improves to 1-1 on the year. The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, September 6, traveling to face Millikin University.
