Westminster Volleyball Sweeps Lyon and Eureka in Conference Tri-Match

9/20/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster volleyball team continued their conference slate in dominant fashion on Saturday, defeating both Lyon and Eureka in a tri-match inside Historic Gym. The two wins gave the Blue Jays an important boost in conference play while showcasing their depth on both sides of the ball. 

In the first match of the day, Westminster earned a 3-1 victory over Lyon by scores of 25–19, 21–25, 25–19, and 25–20. After splitting the first two sets, the Blue Jays regrouped to take control in the third and fourth. Meghan Nolte paced the offense with nine kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while Samantha Hansen and Paige Rowland each added ten kills. Landrey VanOverschelde distributed the ball with efficiency, finishing with 23 assists to go along with four kills and three service aces. Defensively, Haylie Schnake collected 13 digs and Katelynn Jackson added 15, helping Westminster keep momentum throughout the match. 

Westminster carried that energy into the second match, sweeping Eureka by scores of 25–11, 25–20, and 25–14. The Blue Jays hit .356 as a team in the win, spreading the offense across several contributors. Jackson led the way with 15 kills while hitting .333, and Nolte added 11 kills on an impressive .588 efficiency. Makenzie Sansone chipped in seven kills at a .545 clip, and Rowland provided six more while hitting .556. The setting duo of VanOverschelde and Emma Behrmann combined for 37 assists, keeping the Westminster attack balanced and unpredictable. Schnake once again anchored the defense with 13 digs, while Nolte added four more in the sweep. 

The Blue Jays demonstrated both balance and consistency across the two matches, using a combination of offensive firepower and strong back-row defense to control play. With the sweep, Westminster builds confidence heading into the next stretch of conference action.
