9/14/2025 Fulton, MO – Westminster football gave its home crowd plenty to cheer about on Saturday, rolling past Eureka College 29-6 in a dominant Homecoming performance. The Blue Jays set the tone early, building a three-touchdown lead by halftime and never looking back to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Westminster's offense came out balanced and efficient, scoring on four of its first five possessions. Keegan Zdybel opened the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. In the second, Isaiah Gates powered in from five yards out to extend the lead before Landon Yardley and Trace Helsel each added short rushing touchdowns to put the Blue Jays comfortably ahead 26-0 at the break.
Eureka finally broke through late in the third quarter, capping a 14-play drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass. But Westminster quickly answered, as William Corley drilled a 39-yard field goal to restore a 23-point cushion. That kick capped the day's scoring, with the Blue Jay defense keeping the Red Devils off the board the rest of the way.
Quarterback Trey Thomas led the attack, completing 18 of 29 passes for 212 yards without a turnover. Helsel paced the rushing unit with 84 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, while Gates and Yardley each found the end zone on the ground. Zdybel added a score of his own, giving Westminster four different players with rushing touchdowns.
With the 29-6 victory, the Blue Jays start their season 2-0 and continue to build momentum on both sides of the ball. Westminster will hit the road for its next matchup, traveling to Arkansas to face Lyon College on Saturday, September 27.
