9/9/2025 Fulton, MO – The Westminster men's soccer team battled back from an early deficit but ultimately came up just short in a 3–2 loss at Lindenwood on Tuesday.
The Lions opened the scoring in the 38th minute, but the Blue Jays answered quickly after halftime. Nathan Naumann netted his fourth goal of the season in the 49th minute, finishing a setup from Owen Harrison to even the score at 1–1. Westminster grabbed the lead in the 73rd minute when Lucas Sottile found the back of the net off a feed from Braedon Cairer, putting the Jays ahead 2–1.
Lindenwood responded with two goals in a five-minute span to reclaim control, including the eventual game-winner in the 79th minute. Despite a late push, Westminster was unable to find the equalizer.
Goalkeepers Hunter Deeken and Danny Monroy combined for 10 saves, keeping the Blue Jays within striking distance against Lindenwood's 33-shot attack.
Westminster will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 13, at Central Christian College. Kick off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
