8/29/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's soccer team opened its 2025 season on the road Friday afternoon, falling 8-0 to nationally ranked Washington University in St. Louis.
The Bears struck early and often, scoring twice in the first half before adding six more after halftime. Westminster's defensive unit was tested throughout the match, as goalkeeper Reagan Chigas tallied 11 saves in over 74 minutes of action. Freshman keeper Maddie Clubb added another save in relief.
Despite the scoreline, the Blue Jays gained valuable experience against one of the top programs in the nation. Addi Curtis and Faith Coates anchored the back line with extended minutes, while upperclassmen Kelsey Cochran and Claire Sanders provided energy up front.
Westminster will look to bounce back quickly with its home opener on Tuesday, September 2, when the Blue Jays host William Woods University at 7 p.m. under the lights at the Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium.
