5/7/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster softball team closed out its 2025 season in the SLIAC Tournament quarterfinal round on Tuesday, falling to Mississippi University for Women (MUW) by a score of 8-2.
MUW struck early, scoring twice in the second inning and adding another run in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Westminster responded in the fifth with a two-out rally.
Chloe Ferguson led off with a single, and after two quick outs,
Raigan McKee and
Angela McQuarrie delivered back-to-back hits, with McQuarrie driving in Ferguson to put the Blue Jays on the board.
In the sixth,
Kendall Weber and
Taylor Engelmeyer started the inning with consecutive singles, and Ferguson plated Weber with a groundout to shortstop, cutting the deficit to 6-2. However, MUW had already done most of their damage in the bottom of the fifth, adding five runs to break the game open.
Weber led Westminster at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Ferguson finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run. McQuarrie also tallied an RBI in the loss.
The Blue Jays wrap up their season with an overall of 13-26 (9-9) in the season.Â
