Fulton, MO 5/2/2025- The Westminster College baseball team hosted the Lyon College Scots in the regular season finale in a non-conference matchup. The Blue Jays would win the game 7-2 to improve to 17-19 on the season. It would be senior day, and Westminster College would honor its five seniors, Keli'i Price, Brett Cira, Hunter Pethan, Kaleb Hinkle-Pruett, and Charlie Schweppe.
The Scots got on the board first, scoring a run in the top of the first and added on another one in the top of the third to take an early 2-0 lead. From there, it would be all Westminster. Beno Ballard reached on an error to score Keli'I Price from third to load the bases. Braden Eye would draw a walk to bring in Troy Romero and keep the bases loaded. Brett Cira also drew a walk to score Brett Montgomery with the bases still loaded. Aden Pecka would then clear the bases with a double to make 6-2 Blue Jays. Ballard added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning in the form of a solo home run. The Blue Jays would win the game with a final score of 7-2.
Kaleb Hinkle-Pruett got the start on senior day to pick up his second win of the season to improve to 2-0 on the year. He would pitch five innings, give up one run on two hits, striking out four batters. Derek Archer would get some work in, going three innings and striking out one batter. Jack Page pitched the ninth, he would strike out two batters and giving up one hit.
The Blue Jays will hit the road and travel to Columbus, Mississippi, to take on the Mississippi University for Women in the season finale, and a lot of playoff implications on the line. First pitch is set for 11:00 AM on Sunday, May 4th.
