11/15/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's basketball team put together one of its strongest offensive outings of the young season Friday night but came up short against Illinois College, falling 90–60 inside Sherman Gymnasium.
The Blue Jays opened with 14 first-quarter points and continued to build momentum throughout the game, highlighted by a 20-point third quarter. However, the Lady Blues' fast-paced attack and efficient shooting created separation early and maintained control throughout all four quarters.
Gizelle Carreto delivered a standout performance, leading Westminster with a career-high 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including two makes from beyond the arc. She added five rebounds and two assists to complete a strong all-around night.
Aly Bullock contributed eight points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Amonye Allen matched her with eight points of her own. Mariah Mayfield added six points and three assists, and Deyja Mayes chipped in seven points and two assists off the bench. Evelyn Valero provided a spark with four points and four rebounds in her seven minutes on the floor.
The Blue Jays controlled the glass well, pulling down 48 rebounds. Turnovers stayed manageable at 17, but Illinois College's shooting efficiency and 30-point third quarter proved too much to overcome.
Westminster (0–4) is right back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15, competing against Monmouth College for a 1 p.m. matchup.
