9/30/25 Fulton, MO – The Westminster volleyball team cruised to a straight-set victory on Tuesday night, defeating Spurgeon College 25–5, 25–11, 25–15 at Historic Gym. The Blue Jays controlled the match from start to finish, showcasing depth across the roster and a balanced offensive attack.
Mabry Wingerter delivered a standout performance with six kills on a .417 hitting percentage to go along with three service aces and five digs. Katelynn Jackson added four kills on .600 hitting, while Samantha Hansen was a perfect 4-for-4 in attacks for a 1.000 hitting percentage. Annika Rhodes and Makenzie Sansone also contributed offensively with four and three kills.
Setting duties were spread across the lineup, with Liv Hart tallying five assists and Landrey VanOverschelde leading with eight. Several Blue Jays made their mark at the service line, as the team combined for 18 aces, led by Paige Rowland and Emma Behrmann with four each. Defensively, libero Haylie Schnake collected two digs, while Wingerter, Nolte, and Luetkemeyer helped control the net with multiple block assists.
The victory highlighted Westminster's efficiency, as the team posted a .464 hitting percentage and committed only six attack errors across the three sets.
The Blue Jays return to action tomorrow, October 1, when they host conference opponent Webster at 7 p.m. inside Historic Gym.
