Blue Jays Extend Winning Streak with Tri-Match Sweep

9/28/24 Fulton, MO - The Westminster Blue Jays continued their impressive winning streak, sweeping both matches at a tri-match hosted by Spalding University. The Blue Jays displayed their dominance by taking down both opponents in straight sets, extending their streak to six consecutive victories.

In the first match of the day, the Blue Jays faced the Mississippi University for Women (MUW). Westminster started strong winning in straight sets with scores of 25-18, 25-13, and 25-18. The Blue Jays displayed efficiency on offense, led by Kylie Hasselbacher, who tallied 12 kills with an impressive .429 hitting percentage. Madisyn Ellis added 7 kills and Meghan Nolte chipped in with 6 as well, contributing to the balanced attack. On defense, Haylie Schnake provided consistent coverage, recording 13 digs. Emma Behrmann also made her mark with 18 assists, setting up the Blue Jays' attackers effectively. Westminster's ability to control both sides of the ball ensured the Owls couldn't find a rhythm, resulting in a dominant win.

Westminster carried their momentum into the second match, sweeping Spalding University 25-18, 25-23, 25-23. Nolte shined once again, registering 12 kills with an impressive .524 hitting percentage. Hasselbacher followed closely with 14 kills and a .444 hitting percentage, while Ellis added 6 kills. Defensively, Schnake remained a key figure, anchoring the Blue Jays' backcourt with 17 digs. Behrmann was instrumental in setting up attacks, tallying 22 assists. Westminster's defensive efforts were further boosted by Ellis, who also contributed 10 digs.

The Blue Jays' dominant showing in both matches at Spalding University extended their winning streak to six games, putting them in strong form as they head into conference play. Westminster will look to continue their momentum next Saturday when they travel to face Greenville University.
