Blue Jays Fall To Scots In Extra Innings  

Fulton, Mo 4/6/2024- The Westminster College softball team hosted the Lyon College Scots in a SLIAC Saturday doubleheader. Lyon had a two-run lead heading into the bottom of the 6th. The Blue Jays would score 2 runs to tie the game and they would need extra innings to decide a winner in game 1. Lyon would score in the top of the 9th to win the game 3-2. The Scots would win game 2, 13-2, and they improved to 11-11 on the season and 4-2 in the SLIAC. The Blue Jays fell to 4-22 on the year and 0-4 in the SLIAC.  

Game One: Box Score  

  • Payton Dudenhoeffer started the game for the Blue Jays and would go all 9 innings, giving up 3 runs on 11 hits and striking out 2 batters. She would throw 122 total pitches in the game.  

  • The Scots would score a run in the top of the 5th and the top of the 6th to take a 2-0 lead late in the game.  

  • The Blue Jays would tie the game after Raigan McKee delivered a bases-loaded 2-out single to score 2 runs and tied the game.  

  • Lyon would score in the top of the 9th and win the game 3-2.

Raigan McKee: 1-4, 2 RBIs  

Madelynn Kordik: 0-2, 1 BB, 1 R  

 

Game Two: Box Score 

 

  • The Scots would score 4 runs in the first 3 innings to go up 4-0.  

  • Westminster would get on the board in the bottom of the 3rd after Payton Dudenhoeffer hit a sacrifice fly to score Kendall Weber who led the inning off by getting hit by a pitch.  

  • Emily Esquivel hit a double to left center field to score Kendall Weber to make it 6-2.  

  • The Scots would score 6 runs in the top of the 7th and won the game 13-2.

Kendall Weber: 0-2, 2 R  

Payton Dudenhoeffer: 0-2, 1 RBI  

 

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Monday, April 8th when they host Greenville University for a doubleheader. Game 1 is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
