Westminster Battles Greenville in 'Dig Pink' Breast Cancer Awareness Match

10/24/24 Fulton, MO - Westminster College faced a tough loss to Greenville University in straight sets (20-25, 22-25, 21-25) on a special night dedicated to the annual "Dig Pink" campaign for breast cancer awareness and the college's Faculty/Staff Appreciation game. Despite the outcome on the court, the Blue Jays and their supporters rallied for a good cause, with all proceeds from the evening going to the Dig Pink campaign in support of breast cancer research.

Westminster battled through each set, keeping it close but falling in three. Meghan Nolte led the Blue Jays with 12 kills, hitting an impressive .500, and contributed 12 points overall. Kylie Hasselbacher added 8 kills and 10 points, while Paige Rowland chipped in with 7 kills, providing a balanced offensive effort for Westminster. However, Greenville's defense proved difficult to break, as Westminster's attack errors limited their chances of taking control of the match. Defensively, Haylie Schnake contributed 11 digs, while Kirsten Schrader added 9 digs, helping to set up the Blue Jays' offense throughout the match. Despite their efforts, Greenville capitalized on key moments to hold off Westminster's comeback attempts.

The highlight of the night was the collective effort to raise awareness and support for breast cancer research through the Dig Pink campaign. Fans in attendance wore pink to show their support, and the event underscored the importance of community and charity.

Westminster will look to bounce back in their next match as they continue to push through conference play. The Blue Jays have an upcoming tri-match this upcoming Saturday at home, looking to earn some more wins.
