Fulton, Mo 9/21/2022- The Westminster volleyball team welcomed the Beavers of Blackburn College to the Historic Gym for the second SLIAC game of the season. The Blue Jays would defeat the Beavers in three straight sets (25-10,25-10, 25-17) to improve to 2-0 in the conference and 9-6 on the season.
The Jays would get in a rhythm early and would keep it rolling all night. They were led by my senior hitter Payton Bledsoe (Mexico, Mo/ Mexico) who racked up a season-high ten kills and had a .421 hitting percentage. Setters Kate Rable ( Saint Peters, Mo. / Fort Zumwalt South) and Caitlyn Wheadon (St. Charles, MO / Francis Howell North) had eighteen and sixteen assists respectively. Gracie Henrikson (Athens, IL / Athens) collected nine digs and Sophie Reimer (St. Charles, MO / Lutheran) picked up eight digs herself. Rable would also have three aces in the game.
The Blue Jays will be back in action on Saturday, September 24th when they host a tri-match against Spalding University and Eureka College. The Blue Jays will take on the Golden Eagles at 10 AM and the Red Devils at 2 PM.
