Elsah, IL 10/1/2022- The Westminster College volleyball team traveled to Illinois to take on Principia College and Webster University in a Saturday tri-match. The Blue Jays would play the Gorloks first and defeat them in five sets (25-22,20-25,26-24,21-25,15-13). After watching the Webster and Principia play each other the Blue Jays would take on the Panthers in the final game of the day. They would win in three sets (25-14,25-14,25-12). The Jays improve to 13-7 on the season and 6-1 in the SLIAC.
Game One vs Webster-
Against the Gorloks, the Blue Jays' were led by Kate Rable (Saint Peters, Mo. / Fort Zumwalt South) with 19 assists, Kirsten Schrader (Imperial, MO / St. Pius X) with 19 digs, Eryka Wanyonyi (Columbia, Mo. / Hickman) with 13 kills and Schrader and Caitlyn Wheadon (St.Charles,MO / Francis Howell North) with three aces. Wanyonyi got her 1000th career kill during the match!
Game Two vs Principia-
Versus the Panthers, the Jays' were led Braylee Montgomery (Bonne Terre, MO / North County) with 13 assists, Mattie Trudo (St.Charles,MO / Orchard Farm) with 13 digs and four aces, and Emma Geier (Versailles, Mo. / Morgan County R-2) with nine kills.
The Blue Jays will be back in action on Wednesday, October 5th when they travel back to Illinois to take on Blackburn College. That game is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM
