Monmouth, Ill. – The Westminster men's soccer team was defeated by Monmouth College 4-0 on Saturday. The Blue Jays now have a record of 0-4 on the season.

Monmouth started the game strong, scoring a goal off a header following a corner kick less than two minutes into the match to go ahead 1-0. The Fighting Scots scored again in the 12th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Monmouth extended their lead in the final minutes of the first half to go ahead 3-0. The Blue Jays were outshot 9-3 in the first half.

In the opening minutes of the second half Monmouth added another goal to take a 4-0 lead. Senior Connor Bandre' (Ashland, Mo. / Southern Boone) played all 90 minutes in goal and made six saves. Five of those saves came in the second half.

Colin Walsh (O'Fallon, Mo. / Fort Zumwalt South) led the Blue Jays with three shots. Andrew Sprengel (Winfield, Mo. / Lou Fusz Lieser) recorded two shots for Westminster.

The Blue Jays return home to play Nebraska Wesleyan at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
