Westminster Men's Soccer Scores Twice in Loss to Wisconsin-Whitewater

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster men's soccer scored twice, but eventually fell to Wisconsin-Whitewater 5-2.

The Blue Jays fall to 1-6 on the year.

"The intensity level tonight was very good," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We scored two really nice goals that were well created but gave up a couple of goals that we should have done a better job with. Whitewater is always a top-tier Division III program and it was a really good test to see where we currently are. We definitely had some good moments to take forward."

The Warhawks scored quickly, making the score 1-0 in the fifth minute of play.

Westminster tied the score in the 26th minute on a score from Jacob Skaggs in the middle of the box on a cross form Philip Udinyiwe.

Wisconsin-Whitewater scored the go-ahead goal to close out the half 2-1 in favor of the Warhawks.

Westminster got a bad start to the second half, allowing the Warhawks to take a two-goal lead less than two minutes into the second half.

Brent Lampen added a goal 10 minutes later to give Westminster new life, but the Warhawks scored twice more in the final 20 minutes to play to take a commanding 5-2 lead over the Blue Jays.

The Warhawks outshot Westminster 20-12. Connor Bandre' took the loss in goal, facing 11 shots and saving six.

The Blue Jays travel to Simpson Sunday to complete nonconference play.
