Ringwald Breaks Career Digs Record at Greenville

FULTON, Mo. - Despite Westminster volleyball's loss at Greenville, senior Bridget Ringwald broke the career digs record in the two matches of the day.

Ringwald added 26 digs on the day to bring her career total to 2,007, surpassing the 2012 record of 1,888 set by Alex Berry. 

With the two losses, Westminster falls to 11-9 overall an 9-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

The Blue Jays fell 3-0 to Greenville to start the day. After dropping the first two sets 25-15, Westminster rallied back to make the third set close, but eventually lost 25-21. 

Sarah Rivers was the lone Blue Jay to record double-digit kills, adding 11. Madisyn Matthews recorded 18 assists while Ringwald held down the defense with 15 digs. 

Westminster faced a non-conference opponent in St. Mary of the Woods in the second match of the day, falling 3-0. 

After falling by three points in the first set, the Blue Jays came charging back to force extra points in the second set, ultimately falling 29-27. 

Natalie Needy led the team on the offense, recording 14 kills. Matthews again led in assists with 33, while Ringwald added 11 digs. 

Westminster returns home to face Fontbonne Tuesday at 7 p.m.
