Westminster Softball Bows Out of SLIAC Tournament

ST. ANNE, Mo. - Westminster softball dropped two games in day two to drop out of the SLIAC Tournament.

The Blue Jays end the season 24-13 with a conference record of 16-2.

Westminster dropped game one to Greenville with a score of 3-2.

The Blue Jays struck first in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Aubrie Vaughn to score Amber Tepen

The Panthers then scored a run in the second, third, and fourth innings to go up 3-1.

With the Blue Jays last effort in the bottom of the seventh, Callie Collier hit an RBI single to score Brooke Laidley, but it wasn't enough to make a comeback victory.

Westminster went on to face No. 3 Webster in an elimination game.

After a three-run bottom of the third thanks to a two-RBI double from Player of the Year Erica Burney and an RBI single from Mackenzie Myers, The Blue Jays were up 3-0.

From then on, it was all the Gorlocks. They scored seven unanswered runs to take the lead and eliminate Westminster from the tournament.

"We had a great season, " said Head Coach Joe Henderson. "I'm very proud of these girls. We had a record season and built on our traditions."
