Huesgen Earns Complete Game Shutout, Westminster Splits With Greenville

FULTON, Mo. - Sam Huesgen pitched a complete game shutout in the second game of a two-games series against Greenville, picking up the win for the Blue Jays.

Westminster moved to 9-6 with the win and loss, including 4-3 in conference play.

In game one, Westminster lost 4-3. Alex Dickneite took the loss, falling to 2-2 on the year.

The game remained scoreless until the Panthers took the lead in the fifth with three runs. They added a fourth in the sixth.

Westminster made a comeback in the sixth on doubles from Tanner Branneky and Ryan Gvillo, scoring three runs, but it wasn't enough to get the Blue Jays a win in game one.

Huesgen took the mound in game two, going the distance and pitching all nine innings. He improved to 4-2 with the win, giving up just five hits and striking out 10.

Westminster scored one run in the first on singles from Nick Bohlman and Blake Strebler. Will Stonecipher earned the RBI by grounding out to the shortstop to score Bohlman.

Nick Cessna added two insurance runs in the seventh on an RBI single with the bases loaded, scoring Strebler and Zach Eisenreich

Westminster continues conference play with a Wednesday double header against Blackburn. First pitch is set for 1pm.
