LOUISVILLE - Westminster volleyball split the day, but overcame first place SLIAC team Webster 3-2.
The Blue Jays move to 14-9 overall and 13-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Westminster remains in second place despite defeating Webster as the team fell to Greenville earlier in the day.
The Greenville match featured two sets that went to extra points, including the decisive fifth match where the Blue Jays fell 17-15. After falling behind in the first two sets, Westminster came back to win the second two and take the match to a final set.
Ashley Kistaitis led the team with 21 kills while Teresa Becker added 48 assists. Bridget Ringwald led the defense with 21 digs.
In the second match against Webster, the Blue Jays needed a win to stay in the race for the conference title.
After Webster took the first set, Westminster came back to take the second set with extra points, winning 26-24.
The Blue Jays pushed the Gorlocks to a fifth set, taking a decisive 15-11 win in the fifth set to hand the Gorlocks just their second loss in the conference season.
Kistaitis again led the offensive attack with 20 kills, helped by 16 kills from Hannah Marshall. Micha Frasher, Kistaitis, and Ringwald each tallied double-digits in digs.
The Blue Jays will face MacMurray Tuesday to continue the conference season.
