Blue Jays End NCAA Tournament Run

Postgame Interview

CHICAGO - Westminster men's soccer ends its NCAA Tournament run with a 4-0 loss to host and No. 1 seed University of Chicago.

The Blue Jays end their season with an overall record of 15-4-1, after winning the SLIAC Tournament for the fourth consecutive season. This was the second time that Westminster has advanced in the NCAA Tournament.

"This was a really tough match here today," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "U of Chicago is an excellent side and they were able to put us under a lot of pressure early. I thought our ideas both defensively and in the attack were much better in the second half, but at that point we were out of gas from playing back to back games."

The Maroons scored all four of their goals in the first half and outshot Westminster 26-6.

The Blue Jays were only able to record one shot in the first half, but settled in the second half to create more chances. Jephte Ngendo was the onle Blue Jay to record more than one shot with two, including one on goal.

"Overall, it was a great season for us," said Galla. "For us to make it to our fourth straight national tournament and to win a game in the tournament as well is a huge accomplishment."

"I'm so proud of our guys," continued Galla. "We had a lot of adversity this year and they always responded. I couldn't be more appreciative of our senior class as well. They've helped take this program to the next level, and I couldn't be more proud of them."
