DECATUR, Ill. - Westminster volleyball took a break from SLIAC play to face Kenyon and Millikin, falling in both matches.

The Blue Jays fall to 13-6 but remain 9-1 in the SLIAC and a perfect 6-0 at home. 

The first match of the day featured Westminster against powerhouse Millikin. 

Westminster fought hard to stay competitive in the match against the top-ranked Big Blue, but eventually fell 3-0. 

"The night started out shaky against a very tough Millikin team," said Westminster Head Coach Curtis Madson. "We found a way to make some corrections and almost pull out a match against Kenyon."

Hannah Marshall led the team in kills with six, Kayla Reeg had 16 assists while Bridget Ringwald recorded 10 digs. 

The Blue Jays turned around immediately to play the second match of the night against Kenyon. 

Westminster pulled out a win in the first set to recover from the match against Millikin and start the second match on a strong note. In the second match, both teams came down to the wire but Kenyon was able to even the score at 1-1 with a 26-24.

The Blue Jays reclaimed the lead with a 25-21 match in the third, but Kenyon again answered to even the score at 2-2. The Blue Jays fell 15-11 in the fifth match to drop the match 3-2. 

Marshall and Ashley Kistaitis led all players with 19 kills in the match. Reeg tallied 47 assist and Ringwald added 21 digs. 

"This was a good weekend to see some top competition again and figure out what we need to focus on for our final push," said Madson. 

Westminster continues SLIAC play with a match at Webster Tuesday at 7 p.m.
