The Westminster softball team went 0-2 with Coe College on Saturday. The Westminster Blue Jays fell 1-0 in game one and were short-gamed in the sixth inning in game two, 11-1. The losses bring the Blue Jays to 3-8 on the season.
Game One
The Coe Kohawks scored the only run of the game in the second inning with a RBI single to right field. The Blue Jays were limited to just one hit throughout the game, while the Kohawks managed five.
Sophomore Alyson Hahn (2-4) pitched the complete game and struck out five. Sophomore Bree Peterson was credited with the only hit of the game.
Game Two
Coe put up seven runs in the first four innings, but in the bottom of the fourth, sophomore Kelsi Hill hit a triple to the right center fence. Freshman Amber Tepen came up to bat next and hit a RBI single to bring in Hill.
The Kohawks put up four more runs in the sixth inning to take the 11-1 lead, and the Blue Jays were unable to get on the board again, ending the game an inning early.
Freshman Abby Bartley pitched 3.2 innings and was credited with the loss. She allowed four earned runs, but had one strike out.
The Blue Jays host Illinois College on Wednesday, March 25, for a doubleheader starting at 5:00 p.m.
