Ryun Anderson

Westminster College names Ryun Anderson as the new Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track & Field Coach.

Anderson joins Westminster after serving as an Assistant Track & Field Coach at Winthrop University in South Carolina during the 2025 indoor and outdoor seasons. During his time with the Eagles, several of his athletes set personal bests in the distance events, and three scored points at the Big South Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

Prior to Winthrop, Anderson was the Graduate Assistant Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field at East Stroudsburg University (Pa.) from 2023–2025, focusing primarily on distance runners. Under his guidance, the Warriors achieved historic success. In the fall of 2024, the men's cross country team tied its best-ever finish at the conference championships (2nd), while the women's team qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships for only the second time in program history.

Anderson also brings valuable experience from the high school level in Maryland, where he spent several years coaching. At Hammond High School, he led the cross country and track & field programs for two seasons. His 2022 boys' track & field team finished as the 2A state runners-up, marking just the second time in school history.

A graduate of the University of Maryland–College Park with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Anderson went on to earn a Master's in Teaching from the University of Maryland–Global Campus in 2023.

Anderson says, "I am grateful for the opportunity to step into the new role at Westminster College. I am excited to see what we will be able to build over the coming years with our cross country and track & field programs."
