2/19/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster men's basketball team battled until the final buzzer Thursday night but fell to Mississippi University for Women, 78-74. The Blue Jays move to 6-19 overall and 2-13 in SLIAC play.
Westminster put together one of its strongest offensive performances of the season, scoring 37 points in each half. MUW held a narrow 40-37 lead at the break and matched the Blue Jays with 38 second-half points to secure the four-point victory.
Walker Gohring led all Westminster scorers with 19 points, knocking down three three-pointers and going a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Kolton Garner and Roman Phillips each added 10 points, with Phillips shooting an efficient 4-of-5 from the field and pulling down four rebounds. Jamile Johnson contributed eight points and six rebounds, while Sean LaRose chipped in five points and four boards. The Blue Jays finished with 16 assists on 28 made field goals and shot 12-of-16 from the free-throw line.
Westminster will close out conference play on Saturday, Feb. 21, traveling to Lyon for a 3 p.m. tipoff in its final SLIAC game of the season.
