1/23/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster men's basketball team put together a strong first half but could not slow Lyon's second-half surge, falling 63–57 on Thursday night. The Blue Jays move to 6–12 overall and 2–6 in SLIAC play, while Lyon remains atop the conference standings.
Westminster opened the game with energy and focus, taking a 24–22 lead into halftime after a tightly contested first period. The Blue Jays executed well on both ends of the floor and limited Lyon's scoring opportunities early. However, Lyon caught fire in the second half, outscoring Westminster 41–33 to pull away for the six-point victory.
Kolton Garner led all scorers with 19 points, shooting 6-of-13 from the field and knocking down two three-pointers. He also added three rebounds and two assists. Isaac Busch provided a spark, finishing with nine points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting and adding a three-pointer. Gavin Hendrix was a force on the glass, recording a double-double with 10 rebounds and eight points. Roman Phillips added six points and four rebounds in limited minutes, while Sean LaRose chipped in five points. Walker Gohring contributed five assists and five rebounds, and Jamile Johnson added seven rebounds and four points.
Westminster will look to bounce back in its next contest when the Blue Jays stay home to host Eureka on Saturday, Jan. 31.
