Providence, Ri 3/14/2025 - Austen Wetzel competed in the 2025 NCAA D3 Wrestling Championships. He is the 3rd Blue Jay in program history to qualify for Nationals. Wetzel would upset the #4 ranked wrestler in his weight class by a 9-2 decision in the opening round. He would win by pinfall in the 2nd round to advance to the Championship Quarterfinals. Wetzel would drop the quarterfinal match in a 7-1 decision and then lose a very close bout in a 7-6 decision in the consolation bracket to end his Nationals run. It was an impressive show from the sophomore. Austen ends his season with an overall record of 35-5.
