11/18/2025 Fulton, MO – Westminster men's basketball faced a strong Monmouth College squad on Tuesday night, falling 81–58 inside Westminster Gym. The Fighting Scots used a fast start and consistent offensive pressure to hand the Blue Jays their third straight loss to open the season.
Monmouth came out firing, putting up 44 first-half points and taking control early. Westminster settled in during the second half, but the gap proved too large to overcome as the visitors continued to execute efficiently on both ends of the floor.
Walker Gohring led the Blue Jays with 12 points, knocking down all four of his free throws while adding four rebounds. Gavin Hendrix provided an interior spark with 8 points and a team-high 8 rebounds, going 3-for-8 from the field. Roman Phillips contributed 8 points and four rebounds, and Carlitos Sanchez delivered a well-rounded performance with 7 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds. Jamile Johnson added 7 points on 3-of-5 shooting, while Aidan Temple and Bryon Gold both connected from deep, Temple finishing with 6 points and Gold chipping in 3.
With the loss, Westminster moves to 0–3 on the season. The Blue Jays now turn their attention to the Webster Classic, where they will face the University of the Ozarks on Friday at 6 p.m.
