The Westminster women's tennis team swept Blackburn College on Saturday afternoon, 9-0. The win brings the Westminster Blue Jays to 3-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
The Blue Jays went up 3-0 after doubles play. In the one spot, freshman Sydney Attebery and senior Jessica Klutts shut out their opponents, 8-0. In the two spot, sophomore Payton Beeler and junior Ellen Woolsey won 8-2. The freshman Meaghan McGuire and senior Laura Wiltshire duo defeated their opponent in the three spot, 8-2.
In singles play, the Blue Jays won all six spots to sweep the match. In the no. one spot, Attebery defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-1. Klutts in the no. two spot won 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Laural Royer in the no. three spot won 6-2, 7-5. Freshman Kelsey Gerlach and McGuire won the the four and five spot with 6-1, 6-1 scores, and Wiltshire closed out the match win in the six spot with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
The Blue Jays continue their conference schedule on Thursday, April 16, with an away match at Fontbonne University at 6:00 pm.
