The Westminster men's tennis team swept Webster University in doubles competition, helping lead them to a 6-3 victory. The win brings the Westminster Blue Jays to 2-2 on the season and starts conference play with a 1-0 record.
The sophomore Adam Fuchs and senior Kyle Collins duo slipped by with a win in the number one spot with a 9-8 score. sophomore Pete Hasenmueller and junior Reese Hicks won the no. two spot, 8-3, and junior Grant Peterson and freshman Brendan Bosewell completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory.
Westminster won three of the singles competitions to win the match with six points. Collins, the no. two singles, won 6-2, 6-3. Hasenmueller in the no. three spot won with two 6-1 scores. Peterson won the final point in a tie breaker. His final scores were 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3).
The Blue Jays continue their conference stretch after spring break as they travel to Elsah, Illinois on Thursday, April 7, to play Principia College at 5:00 pm.
