The Westminster men's tennis team opened the 2016 season with a 5-4 loss to Midland University.
The sophomore Adam Fuchs and senior Kyle Collins duo won their doubles in the number one spot with an 8-1 win, and heading into singles play the Blue Jays trailed 2-1.
The Blue Jays won the first three singles spots, but were unable to take a final one to win the match. Fuchs won in the number one spot with scores of 6-3 and 6-1. Collins lost the first set, 6-2, but went on to win the next two, 7-5 and 11-9. Sophomore Pete Hasenmueller won the final Blue Jay point in the three spot, 7-5, 6-4.
The Blue Jays host St. Louis College of Pharmacy for their home-opener on Saturday, March 12.
